Introduction to Rahu

In our mythology there was a story, when devganas are drinking “Amrit” after “Samudra Manthan” there was a demon called “Swar Bhanu” he also drunks Amrit with the deva groups in a cheating way, when Lord Vishnu knows then he cut the demon’s body through his “Sudarshan Chakra” into two parts the “Head” is called Rahu and the “body part” is called Ketu. That is why Rahu has a great cunning mind, does not have feelings and it is always hungry for maya or materials life. Ketu always detached to material life. Ketu has feelings only does not have mind. Rahu means the smoke, an illusion, desire, fame, greed, high intelligence, manipulation, obsessive behaviour, information technology, computer, internet, movie, video, a poisonous snake, foreigners, mass disease. Rahu is Vata Karak an Airy nature. It is the significator of an irreligious person, harsh speech, cheating, falsehoods, uncleanliness, filthy. Rahu is influential by strengthening one's power and converting even an enemy into a friend. Rahu is a poison itself, smoke release from a factory is also a Rahu. If a poisonous snake bites, that can be healed by the grace of Rahu. Rahu is a planet which creates illusion and have strong desires towards materialistic achievements. Rahu gives highly auspicious result in 3rd ,4th and 6th houses. Saturn, Mercury and Ketu are his friends, whereas Sun, Mars and Venus are his enemies. Jupiter and Moon are neutral towards him. Similarly, Rahu will provide bad results if Saturn and Sun are also combined in a horoscope. In this case Mars will also be negative. Rahu gets exalted in houses 3rd and 6th, whereas it gets debilitated in 8th, 9th and 11th houses. 12th house is his “Pakka Ghar”.

It gives suicidal tendencies, fears, phobias, poisonous bites, murder, theft, imprisonment, and diseases like cholera, dysentery, skin diseases, swelling of the uterus, and constipation. abdominal ulcers, liver disorders if it is placed in 6th or 8th house with Jupiter, dementia and inertia.

Rahu Mahadasha

The Mahadasha period of Rahu is also 18 years. Rahu is a shadow planet it cannot feel because it is the only head nothing else. Rahu Mahadasha is known to last for 18 years. It is a period in which one loses the direction of life and cannot differentiate right from wrong. Rahu also give different types of addictions such as taking drugs, gambling, drinking alcohol, smoking etc. Rahu dasha will be beneficial if it is placed in a favourable position in the native’s horoscope otherwise it will give adverse result as per Saturn dasha during the Mahadasha period. Rahu's malefic effects could be damage native’s health and wealth during the dasha period.
