As per Vishnu Puran, Rahu and Ketu both are a body of “Asura” or demon called Swarbhanu. After “Samudra Manthan”, lord Vishu appeared with “Amrit Kalash” as a beautiful woman called “Mohini”. Then she started giving Amrit to all Devtas, in the meantime this Swarbhanu changed his appearance “Rakshash” to Devta and sit in the devganas. Mohini also given him “Amrit” and he was started drinking the “Amrit” When Lord Vishnu knew that, he is not from “Devagana” he is a “Demon or Asura”. He immediately sends “Sudarshan Chakra” and cut his head from the body. But till then he already drunk the “Amrit” so he did not die. His head and body part both were alive this due to the drinking of Amrit. Then Lord Shiva declared them as Devta and keep them as planets in the universe. After that the head part known as “Rahu” and the body part known as “Ketu”. Swarbhanu, was the son of Asura King “Viprasithi” and mother “Sinhika”. What is the secret of Rahu Mahadasha?

Positive Rahu

Rahu is normally signify a demon’s head. It does not have body, due to it’s head Rahu’s brain is highly clever minded, always try to get anything in a shortcut way. Rahu never satisfied, he always try to get more and more. Rahu is considered as a most malefic planet and its effects are equal to Saturn. So that’s why people called “Shani vat Rahu” means Rahu is just like Shani. Rahu is the lord of three nakshatras like Ardra, Swati and Shatabhisha. The dasha of Rahu normally last for 18 years out of which the 6th and 8th years are the most troublesome ones. Some people said Rahu exalted in Taurus Sign and some said in Gemini. Rahu gives sudden effects. If it is afflicted native’s faces several miseries and obstacles in the way of success and remedies should be done to reduce the ill effects.
