The Origin of Mahadevi Siddhidatri
The ninth form of Navadurga is “Siddhidatri”. The word “Siddhi” means supernatural power or ability to meditate, and “Daatri” means giver or rewarder. She is worshiped on the ninth day of Navratri. She fulfills all divine aspirations. It is believed that one side of Lord Shiva's body belongs to Goddess Siddhidatri. Therefore, Lord Shiva is also known as "Ardhanarishvara". According to Shivpuran, Devipuran, Lord Shiva had attained all the achievements by worshiping this goddess.
The form of Siddhidatri
The goddess is depicted holding a Chakra, Conch, Mace and Lotus in her four hands. She is either seated on a fully bloomed lotus or seated on a lion as her rider. Mother Siddhidatri can be seen in both the forms. In some pictorial depictions, she is shown surrounded by Gandharvas, Yakshas, Siddhas, Asuras and Devas, who are depicted worshiping the goddess.
Goddess Siddhidatri and Ajna Chakra
The ninth and final form of Goddess Durga is Siddhidatri who is associated with the Ajna chakra in the body. Because she grants the spiritual knowledge and wisdom means the real knowledge of this universe. Ajna Chakra is located in the middle of the forehead and between the eyebrows, the Ajna Chakra is basically governing the imagination, intuition, and spiritual insight as well.
Universe and Mahadevi Siddhidatri
When the universe was a vast void filled with complete darkness, there was no sign of the world anywhere. But then a ray of divine light, which is ever present, spread everywhere, illuminating every corner of the void. This sea of light was formless. Suddenly, it started taking a definite shape and eventually started looking like a divine woman, who was none other than Mahadevi Supershakti herself.
As per Devi Mahatmya, and Rudrayaamal, it is the moment when the supreme goddess appeared and gave birth to the trinity of gods namely Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. He advised the three Gods to contemplate to understand their roles in performing their duties to the world. Acting on the words of Goddess Mahashakti, Trimurti sat on the seashore and performed penance for many years.
Then, the goddess Siddhidatri pleased and appeared before them. She provided them with their wives, she also created Lakshmi, Saraswati and Parvati and giving them to Vishnu, Brahma and Shiva as their wives respectively.
Goddess Siddhidatri and Eight Siddhis
Goddess Siddhidatri assigned the role of creator of the world to Brahma, assigned the role of preservation of creation and its creatures to Vishnu, and assigned the role of destroyer of the world to Shiva when the time came. She tells them that their powers are in the form of their wives, who will help them in performing their tasks. Will do. The goddess assured him that she would also grant him divine miraculous powers, which would also help him in performing his duties. Saying this, he bestowed upon him eight supernatural powers, namely as:
- Anima,
- Mahima,
- Garima,
- Laghima,
- Prapti,
- Prakambya,
- Ishitva and
- Vashitva
The Role of Siddhadatri in Creating the Universe
It is believed that the eight supreme siddhis which Goddess Siddhidatri had given to the Trimurti, Apart from them, he also bestowed upon him nine treasures and ten other types of supernatural powers or abilities. The two parts, male and female, created gods and goddesses, demons, Demons, Asuras, Gandharvas, Yakshas, Apsaras, Ghosts, Heavenly beings, Mythological creatures, Plants, Aquatic, Terrestrial and aerial animals, Serpents and Garudas, etc. and many other being also built.
The species of the world arose and thus arose from them. The creation of the entire universe was now completely complete, filled with innumerable stars, galaxies and constellations. The solar system was complete with nine planets. On this earth, solid landmasses were formed surrounded by vast oceans, lakes, springs, rivers and other bodies of water. All types of flora and fauna came into existence and were given their proper habitat. The 14 worlds were created and created simultaneously to provide the above-mentioned beings with a place to live which they all called their home.
She is surrounded by Siddhas, Gandharvas, Yakshas, Devas, and Asuras, who worship her. The accomplishment she provides is the realization that only she exists. She is the owner of all accomplishments and achievements.
How Eight Siddhis are Works?
These siddhis are said like this:
- 1) Anima
Anima means reducing one's body to the size of an atom
- 2) Mahima
Mahima means expanding one's body to an infinitely large size

3) Garima
Makes the body is burdened with heavy burden.

4) Laghima
Laghima means having a body that weighs very little or is lighter than a mosquito.

5) Prapti
That means becoming omnipresent, meaning being available everywhere.

6) Praakambya
Whatever you desire, get it immediately.

7) Ishitva
Lordship means having complete dominance, which means I am the most powerful.

8) Vashitva
That means having the power to control everyone.
These all eight “Siddhis” were received by Lord Shiva from Mahadevi Siddhidatri and you also must have heard in Ramayan that, mother Sita also gave these eight siddhis to Lord Hanuman that’s why Hanuman is so powerful and can do everything in a moment.
