About Baruthini Ekadashi 2025
Every Ekadashi has its own significance. There are 22 Ekadashis in a year, among them is Baruthini Ekadashi, or Varuthini Ekadashi also known as Ekadashi, this Ekadashi is a holy day for a Sanatani devotee. This Ekadashi comes on the 11th lunar day of the fortnight of the waning moon in the month of Chaitra or the month between April and May.
Varuthini Ekadashi(बरुथिनी एकादशी) is especially worshiped as the fifth Vamana incarnation of Lord Vishnu. On this occasion, prayers are offered to the Vamana incarnation of Lord Vishnu who is believed to protect those observing the fast from negative energies and evil influences.
As per Bhabvishya Puran(भावविष्य पुराण), that Sri Krishna has told the significance of Varuthini Ekadashi to the King Yudhishthir. "Baruthini", means "armored" or "protected." Thus, those who observe this Ekadashi are protected from evil and are blessed with good fortune. King Mandhata attained knowledge by doing this Ekadashi.
King Dhundhumar of Ikshvaku dynasty was freed from the curse of Lord Shiva by fasting. All human beings are assured of prosperity in this life and the next. In the order of donations made on this day, the best benefits are given in the order of horse, elephant, land, sesame, grain, gold and cow in the ascending order of the benefits given and at the end the highest benefit is obtained. If someone shares his knowledge with others then his knowledge becomes better. Donation is a great deed, there is nothing in this world better than donation. On the day of Ekadashi, by donating all charitable works, one's ancestors, gods and all living beings will be pleased.
