This Ekadashi marks the beginning of the Chaturmas, a four-month period when Lord Vishnu is believed to be in a state of deep cosmic sleep called “Yoga Nidra” on the serpent “Shesha Naag”. Some people also said “Deva Shayani Ekadashi” because it signifies the “sleeping” or resting period for Lord Vishnu.
