About Diwali Festival 2025, Amavasya, Deep Daan 2025

The Origin of Diwali Festival?

As per “Ramcharitmanas”, on this day Lord Ram and Sita as Goddess Lakshmi come back to Ayodhya after the defeated of the demon king Ravan. Then the people of Ayodhya welcomed them such as Lord Shri Ram, Mata Sita, Lord Lakshmana, and their associates by lighting up thousands lamps outside their houses. Since then, this tradition has been going on in the name of “Deepavali” or Diwali.

The Significance of Diwali

As per “Padma Purana” Lord Mahadev told “Mata Parvati and Kartikeya the value of “Deep Daan”. He told, during the five days of Deepawali means from the Rama Ekadashi till Diwali is five days in the Krishna Paksha of Kartik Month. These days are very auspicious and the performer will get whatever they wish in the life.

In another prospects, according to the Padma Purana, if anyone donate lamps or diya in the temples and near the river banks. Such person will get the blessings of Lakshmi ji as well as Lord Vishnu also.

Moreover, as per “Agni Purana”, if anyone donates a lamps or diyas to their deity’s temple or a Brahmin’s home they will get happy and prosperity in all aspects.

How People Celebrates Diwali

Diwali is one of the most prominent festival of Hindus. It is called the festival of lights. Diwali is comes in “Amavasya Tithi”. On the day Godess Lakshmi was come from the ocean after “Samudra Manthan”. The festival come during the Ashwini and Karthik Month if we say in English month, it will be between October and November. The celebrations of Diwali basically celebrate for five or six days. It is started from Rama Ekadashi till Bhai Dooj.

As per our Sanatan mythology, Diwali is connected to various religious events, deities, and personalities.

On the same day, Goddess Lakhmi was come from the “Kheera Samudra” or Ocean Milk after Samudra Manthan that’s why Godess Lakshmi’s another name is “Kheeraavdh Tanaya” the term “Kheeraavdh“ means Milk Ocean or Kheer Sagar and Tanaya means daughter. So, after coming from the ocean Goddess Lakshmi moved anywhere to stay, so people decorated their house with different colors, rangoli, flowers, fabulous toran to attract goddess Laskhmi to stay in their house. Lakshmi, is the goddess of prosperity, and Ganesha, is the god of wisdom and the remover of all types of obstacles. So, on this day it is beneficial and bring prosperity in the house to worship Goddess Lakshmi along with Lord Ganesh.

During the Diwali Amavasya, lamps are lit on the banks of the holy Ganga, Gaya and Falgu River. People donate lamps in the of ancestors.
