About Guru Hargobind Birthday 2025
When Guru Hargobind (गुरु हरगोबिंद) was Born?
Guru Hargobind's birthday was on June 19, 1595. He was born in the village of Guru-ki-Wadali, about 7 kilometers west of Amritsar. According to Sikh biographies (biographies of Sikh saints), Guru Hargobind survived three attempts at poisoning by his uncle Prithi Chand and his wife Karmo, as well as another attempt on his life.
1) Poisoning attempt 1: When Preeti Chand threw a cobra at him. In the first attempt at poisoning Karmo sent her personal nurse to pretend that she was interested in taking care of the baby Hargobind. However, the nurse applied poison around his nipple which was meant to harm Hargobind as he was feeding him, but the little boy refused to suck it and thus the nurse's plan failed and she herself became ill from the poison.
2) Poisoning attempt 2: In the second poison plan, a snake charmer was sent by Prithi Chand and his wife to kill young Hargobind by releasing a snake on him, but the young boy is said to have caught the snake's head with his hand and squeezed it until it died.
3) Poisoning attempt 3: The third attempt to murder him was made by a Brahmin, also directed by Prithi Chand and his wife. The Brahmin planned to mix poison in curd and feed it to the child Hargobind, but when he attempted to do so, Hargobind snatched the curd from the Brahmin's hand and it fell on the floor, where a dog named Pista ate it and died, releasing the dangerous elements present in it. The Brahmin then died of stomach disease.
