About Hoil 2025
Holi is a popular and important Hindu festival celebrated as a festival of colors, love and spring. It celebrates the eternal and divine love of Radha and Krishna. Also, this day symbolizes the victory of good over evil. Because it commemorates the victory of Lord Vishnu as Narasimha(नरसिंह) over "Hiranyakashayapu(हिरण्यकश्यप)". Holi originated and is celebrated primarily in the Indian subcontinent, but it has also spread to other regions of Asia and parts of the Western world through Indian emigrants. Holi also celebrates the arrival of spring in India, the end of winter and the blossoming of love. It is also a call for a good spring harvest season. It lasts for one night and one day, starting on the evening of the full moon which is called the Purnima day falling in the "Phalguna" month of the Hindu calendar. The night before Holi, Holika is burned in a ceremony called Holika Dahan, the burning of Holika on the day of Holika Dahan (होलिका दहन)is called "Chhoti Holi". People gather near the fire, dancing and singing around Holika. The next day, Holi is celebrated which is also known by various names like Dhuli in Sanskrit or Dhulheti, Dhulandi or Dhulendi in India.
