Significance of Jumu'atul-Wida
Jumu'atul-Wida is the last Friday prayer or Jumu'ah, Vida means the end, which marks the end of Ramadan. Another name for this holiday is Alvida Jumma which means Friday of Goodbye.
The name of this day means goodbye to Ramadan. In Islam, Friday is the Sabbath and the holiest day of the week; therefore, the last Friday of Ramadan is important because it gives Muslims a chance to reflect on Ramadan.
Jumu'atul-Wida is considered one of the five holiest days for Muslims and is the holiest Sabbath in Islam.
Why Prayer or Ibadat is Requir ed in Jumu'atul-Wida
Muslims believe that prayers offered on this last Friday of Ramadan are accepted. Muslims also believe that giving charity called Zakat to the poor on this day will bring them wealth and blessings in the year and in the future. They also believe that by praying and reciting the Holy Quran on this day, all their sins will be forgiven. There is no dedicated prayer or "Ibadat" in Jumu'atul-Wida.
Followers of Islam believe that the Prophet of Allah prayed during the last ten days of Ramadan. He prayed even when he stayed awake at night. This day reminds Muslims of the opportunity to live a good life. This day also reminds Muslims that Ramadan is about to end.
