About Kali Puja 2025 2025

Kali Puja (काली पूजा)

Diwali is a very big festival in Sanatan religion. This festival is a light and happiness is celebrated everywhere. Diwali festival is celebrated all over India and also by Hindu people living outside Hindustan. Diwali is celebrated with great pomp throughout the country. Diwali festival celebrates and worship is also done in different ways in every states of India.

Kali Puja in West Bengal

But on this day Mother Kali is worshiped in Bengal. Here on the occasion of Diwali people celebrates Kali Puja. This day has special significance in Bengal. It is believed that on this Diwali, by worshiping Goddess Kali at midnight, all the sorrows and troubles in a person's life go away by worshipping her. Apart from this, enemies are destroyed and happiness along with prosperity also come in life.

In Bengal, on the day of Diwali, Mother Kali is worshiped in a pandal, as is Durga Puja. Maa Kali's pandal is seen everywhere, and the puja mandap is decorated very nicely. Any pandal is the best only when there is competition among itself. Crores of rupees are spent in the Kali Puja.

The Significance of Kali Puja

According to the legend, once the atrocities of demons like Chand-Mund, Shumbha-Nishumbh, Rakta Beej etc. had increased a lot. After which he started a war with the gods to capture even Indra Lok. Then all the gods reached Lord Shiva and prayed to him to get rid of the demons. Lord Shiva revealed Amba, a form of Mother Parvati. To kill these demons, Mother Amba took the terrible form of Mother Kali and killed all the demons who were committing atrocities. After that the very powerful demon Raktabeej arrived there.

The Story of Raktabeej

Raktabeej got a boon from Brahmaji. It is belief that, he cannot be surpassed by anyone. The term “Rakta” means “Blood” and Beej means “Seeds”. He had this belief that if the blood that came out of his body due to any weapon of any weapon fell on the ground, he would be born again from that blood. That’s why he felt, he was immortal. After all, his name became “Rakt Beej”. But the rule of law is that whoever lives in this mortal world must come to an end. No matter who gets it, no one or any nation has already made a method to kill it. Mahadevi Durga had already known this thing. Then Kali took the form of Rudra Roopa along with Batuk Bhairav. Batuk Bhairav is an incarnation of Lord Shiva. He was fighting with Mahadevi in the form of a black dog. Then, there was a fighting started between Mahadevi and Raktabeej. Mother cut the head of demon Raktabeej with a sword and took a bowl in her hand to stop the blood that had fallen from his body and drunk. The few drops of blood that fell on him, there Batuk Bhairav was in the form of a dog, immediately lick the blood he was not even given a chance to drop of blood to fall in the ground. When the drop of blood could not fall on the ground, Raktabeej could not be born again. This is how Goddess Kali ended Raktabeej.

That’s why people celebrate Kali Chaudas on the day. Goddess Kali had worshiped in East India or Bengal, Odisha some parts of Bihar.
