Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti is celebrated mainly in North India like Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. It is a regional holiday in these states. It is a celebration of the birthday of Agrasen Maharaj, a great Hindu king. Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti is celebrated on the fourth day of the seventh month of the Hindu calendar.
The Biography of Maharaja Agrasen (महाराजा अग्रसेन की जीवनी)
Maharaja Agrasen, was a legendary Indian king of Agroha, a city of merchants in Hisar district of Haryana. He is a descendant of the Hindu deity Kush, the elder son of Lord Shri Rama. He is credited with founding a kingdom of merchants in northern India, named "Agroha", and is known for his compassion for refusing to sacrifice animals in yagnas. Goddess Mahalakshmi bestowed prosperity on him and his descendants.

The Agrawals, a community of traditional traders from North India, consider Maharaja Agrasen as their ancestor and a historical figure who laid the foundation of their community in the Agroha Kingdom.
In fact, the term “Aggarwal” means “descendants of Agrasen” or “people of Agroha”.
Originally Agrasen was a Kshatriya king of the Suryavanshi dynasty who adopted the Vanika Dharma for the welfare of his subjects. He was the ruler of "Khandav Prastha", "Ballabhgarh" and "Agra Janapada". Presently these three cities are known as Delhi, Ballabhgarh and Agra.
Maharaja Agrasen was born on 15 September 3082 BC or 4250 BC on the first day of Ashwin Shukla Paksha, in the last phase of Dvapara Yuga or the beginning of Kali Yuga. He was the eldest son of Suryavanshi Maharaja Shri Vallabhsen and his mother's name was Rani Bhagwati Devi who was the queen of Pratap Nagar in present-day Rajasthan and his elder brother's name was Shurasena. Maharaja Agrasen was a 34th generation descendant of Kush, the eldest son of Lord Rama. At the age of 15, Agrasen fought in the Mahabharata war alongside the Pandavas. Lord Krishna declared that Agrasen would be a "Yug Purush", meaning man of the era and an incarnation in Kali Yuga.
