Talking about mother's birth, the world-famous sage Katyayan worshiped Mother Bhagwati and performed rigorous penance. When Maa Bhagwati appeared to him, he asked for a boon like Maa Bhagwati that a son would be born in his house. After this, Mother Bhagwati herself took birth in his house. Hence her name was Katyayani. Not only this, the Gopis also worshiped Mother Katyayani to get Lord Krishna as their husband.
