About Parsi New Year 2025
When Parsi New Year Falls
The Parsi New Year is a regional holiday celebrated on the first day of “Farvardin”, the first month of the Zoroastrian Calendar. It is also known as Navroz, derived from the Persian words 'nav' means new and 'roz', meaning day or new day, respectively. The festival falls on the spring equinox around March 21 every year, but the Parsi community in India follows the Shahenshahi calendar and thus celebrates their new year in July or August. Parsi New Year 2024 will be celebrated on August 16, Friday in India.
The Parsi New Year is an optional holiday. Only Parsi people celebrates their new year as well. Employment and holiday laws in India allow employees to choose a limited number of holidays from a list of optional holidays. Some employees may choose to take this day off, however, most offices and businesses remain open.
