What is Tendong Lho Rumfaat
The term “Tendong Lho Rumfaat”, a prayer of the Tendong Mountain located in Sikkim. It’s a festival of the Lepcha tribe people of north-east India. The festival come usually in the month of August every year. According to Lepcha community, they belief their ancestors went a top the Tendong Hill to escape from 40 days and 40 nights of continuous rain. This festival commemorates that happening.
The Significance of Tendong Lho Rumfaat
This is one of the most important festival in the local area of Sikkim. Tendong Lho Rumfaat is considered to be one of the most ancient and significant festivals of Sikkim, Lepcha tribe people celebrate this festival by honouring of Tendong Hill, the hill of the raised horn, which is located here to save the Lepcha Tribe from any types of natural calamities and great disasters. So, for that they worship this Tendong Hill as God and pay homage to their ancestors, they celebrate and enjoy a lot with this festival while honouring the Tendong Hill.
