About Yaosang 2nd Day 2025
The second day of Yaosang is known as the day of playing with Pichkari or colours. Some rituals are observed on the second day of Yaosang such as:
Sankirtan
Local bands perform devotional songs at Shri Govindajee Temple and Shri Bijoy Govindajee Temple. Musical instruments like dholak, cymbals and conch, bells are played to accompany the songs.
Nakatheng
Girls visit their relatives to collect money for Nakatheng. They block the roads with ropes and collect money from passersby.
Pichkari
People put colours on each other's faces and splash water on each other.
A unique feature of Yaosang is Thabal Chongba, a Manipuri folk dance in which boys and girls in traditional clothes dance holding hands in the moonlight.
